Perhaps these are related?

From the summary of a new Mercer report (which I have admittedly not had time to read, downloadable here):

New Mercer research shows that one in three (32%) US workers is seriously considering leaving his or her organization at the present time. Another 21% are not looking to leave but view their employers unfavorably and have rock-bottom scores on key measures of engagement.

Which brought one of my favorite papers to mind:

Given that the top two lines (those with graduate degrees, and college graduates) only represent around a third of the workforce, it’s not so difficult to see why we might have a wee motivational problem.
